'Community House' Happenings
April 2016
Everyone Is A Winner At The Races

About 300 people attended our ‘Night at the Races’ fundraising event on March 18th.
Many thanks to all who came out in support of the vital work we do, and a special thanks to our event host University of New Haven.

Will You Help?
Right now our state legislators must cut more than $900 million, or raise revenue to avoid cuts. Most of the cuts will likely come from non-profit providers of services to low-income, disabled and otherwise struggling families. This will make it almost impossible to meet the needs of low-income families in our state.
It’s time to voice your concerns to our elected officials. They need to know that enough is enough! We encourage you to contact your legislators, and ask them not to cut programs that serve low-income children and families and the disabled.
Please take a moment to contact our West Haven legislators:

Writing, phoning or emailing a public official does make a difference. You can say or email the following:

"My name is (insert your name), I live in (insert the town you live in). I am very concerned about cuts to the state budget that impact services for low-income families. Specifically, I am concerned that the programs that the West Haven Community House (WHCH) provides may be cut.
For 75 years, the Community House has been the cornerstone social service agency in West Haven. These budget cuts will directly impact their ability to provide programs and services for children and families and for adults with developmental disabilities. Hundreds of West Haven families rely on WHCH’s Head Start preschool, Children & Youth Services programs including before & after school care and summer programs. In addition, the cuts will also impact their ability to provide quality services for adults with developmental disabilities that foster community inclusion and improve the quality of their lives.”
