Where are they now?
Roderick Williams, Baritone (UK)
Since returning to the UK, Roderick Williams said images of Townsville popping up as his screen saver have provided a welcome contrast to the grey skies over London. Roderick is currently playing the title role in Britten’s Billy Budd, a powerful psychological journey of one man’s inner turmoil as the past comes back to haunt him. During November he is singing one of this year’s AFCM highlights, Winterreise again in both German and English at venues in Sheffield, Bath, Doncaster and London (the Wigmore Hall). And in December he is taking Bach’s Christmas Oratorio on tour with the RIAS Kammerchor of Berlin throughout Europe with dates in Germany, France and finishing in Vienna just before Christmas.
Tama Matheson performs in
A Dickensian Christmas
Tama Matheson was magnificent in 'Don Juan' at this year’s Festival, and now he’s set to perform 'A Dickensian Christmas' with Teddy Tahu Rhodes.
Tama will bring timeless characters such as Ebenezer Scrooge to life in a way that provides a fascinating insight into the life and times of Charles Dickens, while Teddy Tahu Rhodes will perform popular carols with the Australian Youth Choir. Two performances only, in Melbourne on December 16 and in Sydney on December 18.

Theodore Kuchar Scholarship
The 2016 recipient is!
Congratulations to Elena James (violin) from Pimlico State High School who has won this year's Townsville City Council and AFCM Theodore Kuchar Scholarship worth $4,000. Also a big thank you to all the students who auditioned.
The panel of judges were again thrilled at the high standard as well as the musical talents and aspirations of the Townsville students.
