Happy new year!
Dear
Happy new year and welcome to our first e-newsletter for 2017! It's going to be a big year celebrating our 27th Anniversary and Piers Lane's 11th year as Artistic Director. If you haven't been before we hope you are making the festival your new year's resolution by making the trip to Townsville in 2017! The program is coming together very nicely and we look forward to revealing all the artists and concert programs for 2017 on Tuesday 28 March. Artists you already know will include Kathy Stott, the Goldner String Quartet and Jiri Barta (Czech cellist) - but there will be many surprises from Piers to come so he says watch this space!
Tickets, including Gold Passes, Silver Passes, Festival Four Packages and Holiday Packages, will go on sale to Members ONLY from 9am Wednesday 29 March. Tickets will go on sale to the general public from 9am Thursday 20 April. Being a Member of the AFCM is a great way to support the festival and it's not too late to take out a membership for 2017. You might also like to consider topping up your membership with a donation.
Kind regards,
The AFCM Team.

Transport Tips
Getting around during the Festival
The Townsville Civic Theatre is located at 41 Boundary Street. It is approx. 3kms from the city and 2.4kms from Palmer Street. Public transport is limited however Council runs a special bus during AFCM. The final route will be published on our website closer to the Festival. The cost is $5 each way. It may be quicker and easier to catch a taxi - the cost from Palmer Street would be approx. $12 one way. If you’re fit and energetic, walking is an option, allow 30 minutes. The theatre has plenty of free parking, as do all of the hotels so hiring a car is another option.
