Magical Connections made
It's over for another year but what amazing connections have been formed! Connections between artists who had never played together before, and connections between patrons who have become friends. So, as we complete the wrap-up for our 28th Festival, please be sure to complete our survey if you haven’t already. It closes this Friday the 31st of August. From here we start to turn our attention to 2019 and indeed our Artistic Director Kathryn Stott has almost finalised the program for next year’s Festival.
Next year’s Festival dates are Friday 26th July to Sunday 4th August 2019, so pop it in your diaries now. We will be in touch with our launch and on sale dates soon.
We bid farewell to Executive Director Justin Ankus, who after three years is leaving us in very good shape as he returns to his home base in Sydney. At the same time we welcome Gavin Findlay who officially started last week, although some of you may have had the chance to meet him during the Festival. Gavin joins us from Canberra and is already settling in nicely to the warmth and tropical lifestyle of Townsville.
Warm regards,
The AFCM Team.

Thank you from Kathryn Stott
Hello from Manchester!
By the time you read this, a few weeks will have passed since the end of the festival. I have to say that those 10 days are something I will treasure for a very long time and personally, I couldn't have wished for anything more. What a wonderful group of outstanding musicians they all proved to be and not only that, the happiest I have had the great pleasure to work with! Festivals are all about team spirit, whether on stage or off and I’m also enormously proud of our AFCM staff who worked tirelessly to make both musicians and audience members happy. At this point, especially for those of you not present at my farewell speech, I would like to thank Justin Ankus, who retires from his position as Executive Director and moves back to Sydney. We wish him well in this next phase of life. Grateful thanks also to Rebecca, Sheridan and Jacqui for all their hard work and positivity. John Crawford and all the team at the Civic Theatre deserve a round of applause as do the totally amazing volunteers - this festival would not happen without YOU! Already making an impact, I’d like to welcome Sue Hackett back to the AFCM family and last but not least, huge thanks to Sandra Yates and all members of the Board, who devote many hours of their time ensuring AFCM stays in the best possible shape for the future. Finally, my deepest thanks to all of you who came to the festival and listened with open hearts and minds to Connections.
What a magical journey we shared together.

Festival Survey
We value your feedback
Each year, we ask everyone who attended the Festival to complete our annual Festival Survey.
Not only does it help us identify ways to improve your experience, but the information provided also critically enables an independent cultural and economic impact evaluation to be completed, which proves vital for future funding applications and sponsorship support. If you could spare 10 -12 minutes to complete it online, we would greatly appreciate it. Everyone who completes the survey has the chance to win $500. Survey closes 5pm, Friday 31st of August.
