Spring is in the air here in the tropics with the temperature sneaking back up to the high 20’s already, it really is rather glorious!
Thank you to everyone who completed our annual survey, we had a fantastic response rate, and that will go a long way to helping our funding applications. Your feedback is also invaluable for identifying areas for improvement. We are busy analysing the data now so will share findings with you next month.
In the meantime, don’t forget to lock in next year’s dates, Friday 26 July to Sunday 4 August. We are currently working on the 2019 program and look forward to sharing some exciting news with you soon.
We have loaded some pretty incredible images courtesy of Festival photographer Andrew Rankin. Please take a look at our Best of the 2018 Festival photo album and re-live some amazing moments.
Kind regards,
The AFCM Team.

One of the things I love most about festivals is the slow burn after effect of all that concentration and stimulation. With AFCM 2018 over and everybody once again dispersed throughout the world there is almost no visible sign of the magic that took place. That in itself is a plus for any conservation minded soul but all that connection and discovery ripples out and you find yourself picking up references to an artist or a composer or a work recently heard.
For those who generously supported artists at this year’s Festival it is exciting and gratifying to see names pop up again. Like many of you I have been receiving the many season brochures that arrive at this time of the year as well as listening to the travel tales, tall and true, of those coming and going to festivals and events at home and abroad. I smile when I see or hear about AFCM artists and their peripatetic lives - Grace Clifford is 2019 Emerging Artist in Association with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra with performances of the Mendelssohn and Dvorak Violin Concertos scheduled; Katya Apekisheva pops up with cellist Natalie Klein early in Musica Viva’s 2019 season; cellist István Várdai is touring in China, and Sydney Symphony Principal Double Bass player Kees Boersma curates a program at City Recital Hall in October. The list of connections grows wider and wider with every year, too numerous to catalogue here, it’s just always good when you pause and recall a special Festival moment.

Over the next month we will be working hard to get everything ready to launch AFCM Friends. This will replace Membership as the way to access discounted tickets. Becoming an AFCM Friend will provide even more benefits, we're pretty excited and hope that you will be too - all will be revealed late October.
Also being updated are our passes. Gold Passes will be replaced with a Gold Subscription and Platinum passes will be renamed to Gold Plus Subscription following feed back from the Survey. We're also looking at our Silver Subscriptions and seeing how we can improve our packages
