It’s here….Opening Night of the 2019 Festival and we are bursting with excitement and pride that all the hard work done by Kathy, the musicians and the Festival team is paying off; and what lies ahead for you over the next 10 days is nothing short of spectacular.
It includes a program of great breadth, full of diversity, ranging across traditional and contemporary music as well as exclusive commissions and world premieres. Tonight we showcase 23 of the 40 visiting musicians and we introduce you to a marvellous Chinese instrument, the pipa, and one of its great masters the celebrated Wu Man.
The weekend is packed with musical riches too including our first Concert Conversations with Kathryn Stott tomorrow morning and the entertaining Queens Gardens free concert in the park on Sunday afternoon.
We hope you take the time to immerse yourself in all of the music. Thank you for your ongoing support and let’s enjoy this wonderful 10-day ride, starting tonight!
