Supporting the Festival
30th Anniversary Fundraising - AFCM Future Fund
This year is the Australian Festival of Chamber Music’s 30th Anniversary and we have launched a very special fundraising appeal to help us face the future with confidence.
Considered a benchmark event, the AFCM’s legacy is both respected and significant - over thirty years we have presented some 1,140 artists and performed over 2,500 works. Last year was the first, and only time that the Festival has not been presented. In spite of that, we are looking to the future with confidence – artistic standards high, our eyes on the horizon.
Back in 2013 the AFCM launched its Future Fund to ensure the contribution the Festival makes to chamber music in Australia continues well into the future. The Future Fund’s current balance is $327,454.
To celebrate our 30th we want to raise an additional $300,000. This will provide insurance for further challenges and a source of investment revenue for special projects.
We hope you will consider joining our Future Fund donors in one of the following categories. The AFCM’s legacy is a wonderful achievement and we would welcome you as part of the story.
Coral Sea Stars            $30,000
Orpheus Dreamers       $10,000
Castle Hill Conquerors  $5,000
Magnetic Marvels          $3,000
Arcadia Angels              $1,000
Strand Champions        $300

A Local's Guide
to Townsville
You know Townsville in winter is the perfect place to be right? The average temperature is a balmy 25°, the sun is shining bright each day (300 days of sunshine every year remember) and the locals are friendly, welcoming and keen to show you around. There are some wonderful sights and attractions in and around the city - head up Castle Hill at sunrise (or sunset), enjoy a meal in one of Townsville’s many top cafes and restaurants, stroll along the 2km beachside esplanade affectionately known as The Strand or simply relax in the warmth of the tropics in between Festival concerts…sounds like paradise!
Where to Stay
in Townsville
Townsville offers a range of accommodation to suit all budgets, from luxury hotels to self-catering apartments and budget accommodation. Our Festival partner hotels include The Ville Resort & Casino on the breakwater and Quest Townsville on Palmer Street, both offer great locations with fabulous views, facilities and service. Three further recommendations are the hotels in our Festival holiday packages - the Grand Chancellor Hotel located in the CBD, Rydges Southbank on Palmer Street and Park Regis Anchorage also on Palmer Street. Remember, winter is peak season in Townsville so book your accommodation early.

Sunset Series Concerts
Five to choose from
This year’s Sunset Series concerts are brimming with stellar music, special compositions and amazing artists. There is an Australian premiere in Saturday’s Concertino, William Barton shines in Monday’s B4, Bach features in Wednesday’s Brilliant Baroque, Thursday pays tribute to Beethoven with Jessica Duchen’s Immortal Beloved and Friday’s Magical Stories shines with storytelling. Why not treat yourself to a 5-Concert Pass and see them all? If you are less familiar with chamber music, these one-hour concerts are the perfect place to start.
Online Festival
Digital Wrap Up
Last month we presented Festival Overture - our second online festival, offering 3 days of musical performances, concerts and daily digital content. The evening concerts streamed from the VOCES8 Centre in London were superb, as were the free lunchtime concerts and morning melodies presented each day. Almost all of those musicians will join us in Townsville in July. If you missed it, and would like to watch any of the free daily performances, visit our website or subscribe to the AFCM YouTube channel here

Apply to Volunteer
We rely on our Volunteers to be ambassadors not only for the Festival but also for Townsville. See behind the scenes of Festival and become a driver, usher, program seller or hospitality assistant. Volunteer applications have now opened and we look forward to welcoming you to our 30th Anniversary Festival.
Theatre Catering
Cuisine to Go have launched their AFCM Civic Theatre menus. Simply choose your meals from the AFCM tab on their website, nominate your night and select from one of six delicious meals. All options come with a beverage of choice, water and a bread roll.
SeaLink Ferry Timetable
We are pleased to announce that SeaLink have extended their Ferry Timetable in order to accommodate our Festival patrons. Why not choose from one of the fantastic hotels Magnetic island has to offer. SeaLink has also worked closely with Sunbus and TransLink to ensure appropriate measures were taken to align bus and ferry services.
