Spring is in the air here in the tropics with the temperature sneaking back up to the high 20’s already, it really is rather glorious! Thank you to everyone who completed our annual survey, we had a 35% increase in response rate, which is fantastic, and will go a long way to helping our funding applications. Your feedback is also invaluable for identifying areas for improvement. The team is busy analysing the data now so will share findings with you next month. Ensemble Liaison will collaborate with Katie Noonan at the Port Fairy Spring Music Festival in October where they will be performing a new arrangement of Britten's Les Illuminations by Iain Grandage. They are also looking forward to their collaboration with the wonderful mezzo soprano Fiona Campbell for performances at the Melbourne Recital Centre and Ngeringa Farm in South Australia featuring their arrangement of Mahler's Ruckert Lieder which they performed with Roderick Williams at this year’s AFCM.
Next year Queensland Symphony Orchestra turns 70 and AFCM Artistic Director Piers Lane will celebrate his 40th anniversary with the Orchestra. Piers will present his famed interpretation of the Moszkowski concerto together with Tchaikovsky and Dvořák under the baton of conductor Enrique Arturo Diemecke in October. For more info click below.
After completing some concerts with Andrew West at the Sydney Opera House and the beautiful Ballarat Art Gallery, Andrew and Bridget went on to record Paul Stanhope’s "Phosphoric Variations" for radio broadcast. Bridget and Andrew also did a photo shoot at Palm Beach for their new album in the making entitled "TIMELESS". Bridget is now back teaching and preparing for the boutique style Sydney Chamber Music Festival in Manly (24 - 25 September) where she is Artistic Director.

The Australian World Orchestra has commissioned Australian composer Elena Kats-Chernin to compose a concerto for 8 double basses which is a first in orchestral history which will have its world premiere on the 29th September at the Sydney Opera House. AFCM 2016 artist Kirsty McCahon will be performing on Double Bass.
