Telehealth
The doctor will “see you” now

Telehealth (A.K.A. telemedicine) has been around for a long time although many of us are experiencing our first “virtual visit” with our healthcare provider this year. This “live,” 2-way visit usually includes video and audio communication via high speed internet access using a mobile device, tablet, or computer with a web camera. Alternatively, a phone call using a landline telephone can also be considered a televisit. While not a perfect substitute for in-person healthcare, most people find it to be less stressful, more efficient and less time-consuming, with no need to travel to an office or wait for their provider.

Certain types of appointments are better suited for telehealth such as primary care and follow-up visits, health screenings and wellness visits, medication management check-ins, and behavioral healthcare.

Most insurers have expanded coverage (including Medicare and Medicaid) for telehealth visits. Contact your provider to find out what telehealth options are available for your next appointment.

Hope for Stomach Cancer

Last year Bag It began partnerships with other organizations to provide some cancer specific bags. Our first collaborative bag was with Hope for Stomach Cancer to produce Hope in a Bag. Hope in a Bag has all the valuable resources found in a traditional Bag It bag and then has an additional section with content on stomach cancer. We are very grateful to Daiichi-Sankyo for their educational grant to get this initial collaborative bag funded. Hope for Stomach Cancer is working, like Bag It, to reach out to medical providers to distribute the bags and also making them available for individuals diagnosed with stomach cancer to receive one directly.

If you are interested in ordering Hope in a Bag or another bag please check out options at www.bagitcancer.org/order.

Bag It Educates, Supports, and Empowers those impacted by cancer.

We help patients, caregivers, and cancer advocates to Fight the Fear of Cancer through our two key programs: the Bag It bag and Escape to THRIVE. The bag helps anyone with any type of cancer to cope with their diagnosis and become active members of their treatment team. Escape to THRIVE is a national leadership conference to support cancer advocates.
