Peer Support Group Meeting
Is vision loss making it difficult or impossible for you to enjoy reading? Would you like to keep up with current books, topics, or writers? Just because you have low to no vision doesn't mean you can't enjoy books. Our January VIPS group meeting will feature Barbara Penegor speaking on KY Talking Book Library! All who are interested are welcome to attend.
The meeting will be held at the BCB office on Wednesday, January 28th from noon - 2pm. Lunch is served from noon - 1pm and our program will be from 1pm - 2pm. During lunch, we encourage attendees to engage in conversation, sharing thoughts, ideas, and techniques for managing daily tasks. We choose a topic of discussion each month and January's is cooking and safety in the kitchen. An RSVP is required to reserve your lunch. Please RSVP by calling the office at 859-259-1834 or emailing
Community Outing Recap
Although BCB has scheduled outings for our members and consumers in the past, the first of our new monthly Community Outings was a success, with 15 attendees learning and sharing information about cooking and safety in the kitchen, our January topic of discussion.
BCB's Community Outings are open to anyone who wishes to attend and share or learn information on the monthly topic. These outings were created to encourage persons with low to no vision to reduce feelings of isolation by joining others with similar challenges, reduce anxieties of traveling and exploring new destinations, be included by peers and all community members, and offers the opportunity for persons with low to no vision to share and teach others how they manage and succeed with daily tasks.
If you know of someone who may benefit from any of the BCB programs, please share our information with them by forwarding this newsletter, or having them call (859-259-1834) or email us ( We will be meeting at Asian Wind restaurant next month and our February topic of the month is transportation!
