We Need Your Help!

We need anyone who has participated in any of our programs or received services from BCB to complete a very short 10-question survey. We have separate surveys for those who are visually impaired or sighted. The deadline to complete this survey is Tuesday, August 18th!

Your answers will help us better understand, follow up, and improve the services we provide to our consumers. We are required to gather this information for several grants we receive and your responses will be anonymous (unless you want to leave your name).

If you have attended or been involved in any of the following in the last 6 months, please take the time to fill out our quick survey –
Peer support monthly meeting
Quarterly membership meeting
Mentoring program
Community outing
Intake
Or simply contacted the office for information or referrals

We thank you for assisting us in improving our programs and helping us to continue serving our community!
Board Members Needed - Quarterly Membership Meeting!

Our Quarterly Membership Meeting will be on Monday, September 28th from 4pm to 7pm and will be our Annual Business Meeting where we will elect board members and officers! The business meeting will begin at 4pm and dinner and social time will follow. Open positions include President, Vice President, and 4 members-at-large. Remember, we need to keep our board members at a balance of 51% or more blind or visually impaired and the President and Vice President positions must be filled by someone who is visually impaired!

If you are interested in running, please contact board member Karen Cross, our Nominating Chair, at (859) 684-5958. She will provide you with board member responsibilities, expectations, and answer any questions.
New Program!

BCB is partnering with Independence Place for a new program - 2015 United States Association of Blind Athletes/Anthem Foundation National Fitness Challenge!

This program is to aide in increasing the physical activity levels of participants and is open to people who are blind or visually impaired. Participants are still being accepted, and are required to be high school age or older! This program will run from September 1st to May 31st and will involve meeting once a week for a physical activity such as walking or playing an adaptive sport like Goalball or Beep Baseball!

Some of the BCB staff are participating and BCB is also loaning assistive devices for the program - a talking scale and some talking blood pressure monitors! We would love to have you join us and participate in the USABA and Anthem Foundation National Fitness Challenge! Contact Willis at Independence Place for more information and to sign up - (859) 266-2807 or willis@ipky.org.
