Staff Spotlight: Laura Moreno
Laura Moreno is CADA's Martin County Community Advocate. Laura has been with CADA since November of 2019 and is working in CADA's new Fairmont office at 403 S State Street.

Prior to working at CADA, Laura worked with young people at an elementary school in Montevideo as a Family and Community Liaison. She has also worked as a manager of a women's group home.

In her role as a community advocate, Laura is excited about connecting with people who are searching for help and "showing that there is hope when it seems like there is not." She said she looks forward to being able to bring some sort of peace to someone's life. Laura wants to be a listening ear and wants to let people know that there is help and they don't have to navigate physical hurt or emotional pain alone.
Laura is enjoying her work in Martin County and said she has a lot of support from the people in the community. Laura said she feels "welcomed to the area as a CADA advocate." Laura is excited to connect with Martin County residents who may need assistance. She hopes to be able to help them connect with law enforcement and other resources that may help them through what they're experiencing. Laura also said, "being bilingual gives me the privilege to reach out to the Hispanic community in Martin County."

In her free time, Laura enjoys running, fishing, reading, and spending time with her friends and family! You can meet Laura at CADA's Fairmont Office Open House on Wednesday, March 4th from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. All are welcome!
CADA has been selected as the nonprofit beneficiary of the 10th annual Raw Fusion Fashion Show!

Raw Fusion, presented by the MN River Builders Association, is a high-energy, abstract fashion show. Contestants utilize raw building materials to create an ensemble and are judged for their uniqueness and flair. Raw Fusion brings attention to the local building industry while also raising funds and awareness for a local cause - this year, that cause is CADA!

The theme for the 10th year is eXposed, using the Roman numeral X. When announcing CADA as the nonprofit beneficiary, Raw Fusion said, "We are EXPOSING the truth behind a hard subject and raising awareness for their cause."

This year, the Raw Fusion Fashion Show will be held of Friday, May 8th at the Mankato Civic Center Grand Hall.

Teen Dating Violence Month
February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. Each year, CADA, along with agencies nation-wide, work to raise awareness of this pervasive issue. Every February individuals and communities have the chance to show support for those who have been affected by dating violence. It is important to start a conversations about teen dating violence, and to promote self-love, positive affirmations and healthy relationships.

2020 marks ten years of raising awareness of teen dating violence. According to, one in three young people will end up in an abusive or unhealthy relationship. Additionally, almost half of college women disclosed undergoing abusive and violent dating practices or actions.

The 2020 teen dating violence awareness campaign theme is “#1Thing." This campaign shows that by doing just one thing individuals can spark a conversation around teen dating violence. #1thing gives everyone the opportunity to be a part of the movement by doing one simple thing to promote love and respect!

To get involved this February, share your #1thing on social media and join us as we wear orange on Tuesday, February 11th to raise awareness!
