Picnic/Dream Night
at the Sacramento Zoo

DSIA will host a picnic at William Land Park (GA9) prior to the Sacramento Zoo’s DreamNight event! Bring your own picnic dinner for your family, and meet with other DSIA families in the park to eat and socialize, then head in to the Zoo for a special night for families with children with disabilities.

RSVP is not needed for the DSIA picnic - just bring a picnic dinner and come meet other families!

Interested In Sharing Your Story? 
 
DSIA wants to shine the spotlight on local self-advocates! If you are a self-advocate and would like to share a story about your accomplishments, where you work, about school, travel, sports, or any other activity you enjoy, please let us know! We also welcome stories written by parents and siblings that highlight both the outstanding accomplishments and the everyday lives of self-advocates.

Please join NDSS for our June webinar when the topic will be “Learning Is for Everyone: Making College a Reality for Students with Intellectual Disabilities.”  Donald Bailey, Executive Director of the Charleston Transition College, will recount the inspiring true story of his family’s quest to provide postsecondary opportunities for young adults with intellectual disabilities and Stephanie Smith Lee, Senior Policy Advisor, Postsecondary Education, National Policy Center, will share resources and action steps.  
The webinar will be held on Thursday, June 14 at 1:00pm ET.

It's official!  Emmy nominated, co-creator and star of Signing Time, Rachel Coleman will be performing Saturday, August 25th, 2012 in Roseville, CA to benefit the Signing Time Foundation!  
If you love Signing Time, don't miss this event that is sure to make memories to last a lifetime!  There will be time to meet and greet with Rachel and Hopkins for photos and autographs and an amazing concert where Rachel will perform some all-time favorite songs from Signing Time.  All events will be interpreted in American Sign Language for our Deaf and Hard of Hearing patrons.

He is among a few professionals who know and are able to teach this topic.  He has also managed vocational rehabilitation and employment programs for 12 years, and managed special education programs prior to working with adults.
