What is the BIG Day of Giving?
BIG Day of Giving is a 24 hour online giving challenge. Starting at midnight on May 6, 2014, the community will come together to support close to 400 nonprofits from the region. It is an amazing opportunity to raise unrestricted dollars and shine the spotlight on our vibrant nonprofit sector.  The Sacramento region will join hundreds of community foundations across the country on this day through a national campaign called "GiveLocalAmerica". This unprecedented event is a celebration of giving by many donors, and locally, will not just bring additional funding, but increased awareness of the nonprofit sector who work tirelessly to make our community a better place. Giving challenges are sparking excitement in many regions just like ours, and have raised millions.  It's now our turn to do the same!
Giving on May 6 will not only show support for our community and the work of nonprofits, but it will also be an opportunity to make your donation dollars stretch! Many local businesses and organizations have contributed funds to a pool of matching dollars! This means that every dollar donated on May 6 will get a boost from this pool of funds through a pro-rated match.

DS-Connect" The Down Syndrome Registry
The new registry provides an important resource to individuals with Down syndrome and their families,” said Yvonne T. Maddox, deputy director of the NIH’s Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), which is funding the registry.  “The registry links those seeking volunteers for their research studies with those who most stand to benefit from the research.”
