There are days when nature echoes the tenor of an event. So it was on the day of the High Ridge House (HRH) 2016 Annual Meeting. Sunshine, gentle breezes from the Hudson River, blue skies. Saturday, September 17th was a perfect autumn day.
And the glory of the day resonated in the messages of this yearly inspirational offering. Marivic Mabanag, our new Executive Director, opened with a message of a renewed vision for our facility. This new but old message of love began over 70 years ago. It sprang from the vision of a gentleman who was grateful for a permanent healing of paralysis. We are renewing our commitment to this legacy of healing.
Board President Fran Hall introduced Elizabeth Harned, our new Director of Christian Science Nursing. Elizabeth brings over 30 years of Christian Science nursing experience in various facilities. She most recently served as Executive Director/Director of CS Nursing at Beacon Haven in Minneapolis. These appointments herald a new direction for HRH -- they underscore our renewed commitment to its mission of bringing healing and comfort to those in need.
On behalf of the Board, Ms. Hall clearly explained the critical challenges facing our sanctuary for healing. She outlined the steps being taken to meet them including the on-going financial commitment and partnership with the field. We are filled with gratitude for the loving and generous response to our current Matching Funds Drive of $86,000
and the field’s response to our June Call to Action
. Your gift of any amount will be matched if received by October 31, 2016

Our keynote speaker, Andrea McCormick, CS, with her address "Medicine or Mind?" turned thought to the contemplation of the deeper spiritual questions that undergird our reliance on Christian Science and on God as our Physician. Practitioners of Christian Science, dedicated spiritual healers, have the opportunity to demonstrate the unique potential of this Science of Mind. For over a century, Christian Science has offered countless individuals an approach to healing that goes beyond matter-based medicine and treatments. It was clear from the address that it is not a choice between alternative systems, but an understanding of the Truth of being that lifts our lives from sense to Soul. It has been a privilege for High Ridge House, through our Christian Science nursing ministry, to play a vital role in practicing and defending this reliable and effective healing Truth.
With love and joy,
