A Time to Sow

Dear ,

Spring is just around the corner! For farmers and gardeners, this beautiful season is the time to begin a new growing cycle. They clear the land of winter’s debris, shore up fences, prepare the soil, and decide what plants to cultivate. Then, envisioning their harvest, they sow the seeds that will produce the desired crops, confidently expecting the seeds to germinate, grow and bear fruit.

We all have the opportunity to be thought-gardeners, to begin a new growth cycle, to cultivate our mental soil, and sow the seeds of God-like thoughts that produce regeneration and healing. “Warmed by the sunshine of Truth, watered by the heavenly dews of Love, the fruits of Christian Science spring upward...Are we feeling the vernal freshness and sunshine of enlightened faith?” (Mis. p 343).

In one of many seed-related parables, Christ Jesus said, “The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof” (Matt. 13:31-32).

How encouraging to know that we can “plant” the kingdom of heaven in our hearts, and confidently expect it to grow to full fruition. “Let unselfishness, goodness, mercy, justice, health, holiness, love — the kingdom of heaven — reign within us, and sin, disease, and death will diminish until they finally disappear” (Science and Health p 248).

At High Ridge House, we envision a perpetual harvest of healing, and we are daily, hourly, endeavoring to sow heavenly seeds, and to spiritualize thought, for “spirituality [is] the good soil, wherein the seed of Truth springs up and bears much fruit” (Science and Health, pp 270-271).

You, our dear supporters and friends, are our cherished partners in cultivating spiritual healing. You have faithfully sown to us seeds of love and kindness and generosity, and we are immensely grateful!

“Now he that ministereth seed to the sower...multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;” (II Cor 9:10)

With love,
