Future Home of Poppy Boy's Kitchen
The Main Street building will have a beautiful teaching kitchen that will be named after Steve Friedlander (aka Poppy Boy)
, the late father of Main Street Founder Jillian Copeland. The good folks of Miller & Long, working side by side with the good folks from Triangle Construction, are currently pouring concrete for Poppy Boy’s Kitchen. And Main Street's incredible designers, Lauren Sachs and Elyse Linowes, are designing a gorgeous plaque to honor Stevie - our beloved friend, father, husband, son and of course our Poppy Boy. Heartfelt thanks to all of those who have generously supported the dream of Main Street in loving memory of Stevie.
Follow the construction of the Main Street building in the Construction Gallery on the Main Street website.
Professional Member Spotlight
Life’s transitions are never simple and rarely easy, especially when it comes to handling major life changes for a loved one with special needs. House Calls is a private company that can help individuals and families navigate the minefield of paperwork, benefits and subsidies.
House Calls was founded 15 years ago by Beth Albaneze, a certified therapeutic recreation specialist, clinical psychologist and psychiatric rehabilitation practitioner. Mrs. Albaneze has more than four decades of experience in the field, and she leads a team of professionals from varied backgrounds who have specialized expertise in a wide range of areas.
The team provides clients with the guidance, emotional support and resources necessary to walk through times of adjustment and transition. House Calls offers its services to clients of all ages — from teens to seniors — and families who need assistance with caring for a loved one. Services that may be of particular interest to the Main Street community include advocacy, assessing the needs of clients who require special accommodations at school and/or work, transitioning out of the school system, coordinating with schools, work, doctors and hospital staff, mental health care coordination, and arranging referrals to lawyers, doctors and agencies that know about subsidies that are often overlooked.
House Calls provides services to clients all over Maryland, DC and Northern Virginia. The company firmly believes that clients are most receptive to therapy and other kinds of help when they are comfortable. So House Calls meets clients where they want, whether that’s in their home, a coffee shop or even a park.
House Calls is a Main Street professional member. Click here for details about professional membership and its benefits.
