Main Street Team Hard at Work -
A Look Behind the Scenes!

Behind the ScenesWe hope our Main Street Monthly Connect finds you healthy and adjusting to our new reality. Our Main Street team has transitioned well to our new way of life and we thank you for joining us for our virtual programming and connections. For this May update, we thought it would be nice to share a behind-the-scenes look at current Main Street staff initiatives. We hope you gain an understanding of our scope of work, our pivot to current virtual programming and feel the excitement for what’s to come - including a new virtual summer membership!! In the meantime, stay healthy and safe and enjoy our May behind-the-scenes update.

Stacey WatsonStacey Watson
Director of Membership and Volunteers
We are having a great time getting creative and spending time with all of you during our virtual programs. Our Sunday Game Days are off to a fantastic start and we have been enjoying taking some time for connection, reflection and inspiration at our weekly Virtues Circles. While we miss being together in person, we are so grateful that the wonders of technology provide the opportunity to stay connected. We are seeing so much success with our virtual programming that we are making plans to keep a lot of what we have developed long into the future. In fact, keep an eye out for information on a brand new Virtual Membership program launching this summer!
Behind the scenes, I am also working on a few major initiatives for once the doors at Main Street open. I am fine-tuning the new membership structures, formatting member handbooks and developing robust programming schedules.

I have had the luxury over the last few weeks to connect with many of you on my “check in” phone calls with Main Street members. These phone calls have allowed me to get to know and learn about many of you - and I am enjoying every minute! If I haven’t reached you yet and you are interested in connecting, please contact me through our main email (info@mainstreetconnect.org) and we can set up a time to talk!
Additionally, I have been working hard to help develop virtual programming to connect and educate all of you wonderful members while you are sheltered in place. Please check out the details below about our upcoming book club and our educational miniseries. Lastly, I am excited to be working on The Entrepreneur Project! This will be a special group for all interested members, which is dedicated to what you need to know to start your own business. Stay tuned for more about this in the coming weeks!

Julie Ryan-SilvaJulie Ryan-Silva
Director of Communications and Research

We are working hard to keep the Main Street community connected and to prepare for the time that we can be together again.
I am currently coordinating research and evaluation efforts for Main Street. We are working with Professors Peter Leone and Ellen Fabian at the University of Maryland to develop a research project on the impact that Main Street will have on the lives of residents and their family members. Main Street is also working with experts at Sharp Insight (learn more about them below) to prepare an evaluation strategy for our membership program. These efforts are driven by our commitment to meeting the needs of our diverse, inclusive community.
In addition, I am coordinating Main Street’s transition to a new website and membership management platform, ClubExpress. This platform will offer a number of benefits for our members including a mobile app and new ways to connect with one another. We will also soon roll out a virtual membership option. Watch for that - and know that we are thinking about all of you as we work behind the scenes!

This is a very exciting time for Main Street as we get ready to launch our next phase! I've been inspired by the innovation and commitment of the Main Street team. I've been uplifted by the smiling faces of members on Zoom activities.
Behind the scenes, I support our Main Street communications, coordinate Main Street Connections and assist the team as needed.
