Making A Difference, Together

Dear :

Earlier this month, we took part in an event that epitomized a crucial component of MHP's identity: partnership. In collaboration with Montgomery County's Department of Environmental Protection, MHP is distributing reusable grocery bags filled with resources on green living to residents of MHP's 1,700+ properties so they can take advantage of energy- and money-saving opportunities that also will help protect the environment. These bags will be given to families as they move into MHP properties too, as a welcoming gesture.

We kicked off this campaign at MHP's Beall's Grant Apartments in Rockville, which has many green features and is in a walkable community with easy access to commercial areas, workplaces, and mass transit. The launch event included County Executive Marc Elrich, DEP Director Adam Ortiz, and County Councilmember Sidney Katz (click on image at right to access a news feature on the event).

This partnership is a reminder that collaboration is central to achieving MHP's mission of housing people, empowering families, and strengthening neighborhoods. Whether it is teaming up with Manna Food Center to provide healthy eating information and fresh vegetables to our residents, or partnering with Washington Conservatory of Music so our afterschool students can learn how to play violins, or bringing financial literacy workshops to our residents with the help of Montgomery County Employees Federal Credit Union, one thing is clear: Working together, we can have a bigger impact on the lives of our residents.

As always, thank you for your partnership, which is a source of great strength as we work together to ensure all of our neighbors have access to quality, affordable housing.

In gratitude --
Robert A. Goldman
MHP President

P.S. We are incredibly proud of Cleydi Pacheco, a long-time MHP early childhood educator who is being recognized as an emerging leader by the Housing Association of Nonprofit Developers. More details are below.

2019 Emerging Leader Award Winner

MHP's Cleydi Pacheco has been selected as the 2019 Emerging Leader by the Housing Association of Nonprofit Developers (HAND). Cleydi is an innovator. She launched MHP's preschool enrichment program, which today has grown to serve nearly 100 young children. She also serves as a crucial source of information and support for families living in MHP's Amherst and Pembridge communities in the Wheaton area. For many residents, she is like a member of the family. We look forward to celebrating Cleydi on June 11 at HAND's annual meeting. We are very proud of her!

Annual Golf Tournament

We're just a few weeks away from the annual Norman Christeller Golf Classic on Monday, June 24, at the Hampshire Greens Golf Course. Please join us to golf for a cause. You will be supporting programs that encourage young people to become future leaders.
