PARENT SURVEY
Keeping Kids Safe 
ASAN (Autism Self-Advocacy Network), is asking P2P to help them send around a survey "to parents and self-advocates on autism and safety, specifically so we can get some data on people's attitudes toward this sort of thing and strategies they've used to keep themselves or their kids safe."

AUTISM SOCIETY OF FC
The Autism Society of North Carolina, Forsyth County Chapter will hold an informational program about our school district’s high school programs for students who have an autism spectrum diagnosis. Carol Fish, Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools' Exceptional Children Program Director -High School, will explain the available programs and classroom supports.

Young Life Capernaum Club
Young Life Program for Young Adults with Disabilities

This is a specially designed Young Life program for young adults (ages14-22) with disabilities. This program uses a reverse inclusion model so lots of our typical teen friends come too! YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID COURSE
Just as CPR helps you assist someone having a heart attack, Youth Mental Health First Aid helps you assist an adolescent experiencing a mental health crisis or mental health challenge.  
 
This four-week certification course will be offered at Centenary UMC (Winston-Salem) on Wednesdays beginning January 18, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. 
 
The course introduces participants to unique risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems in adolescents, builds understanding of the importance of early intervention, and teaches individuals how to respond effectively.  
Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders. 
 
For all adults who regularly interact with adolescents. Childcare available with advance reservation. Attendance at all four weeks required.
 
$20 course registration fee, $5 dinner option offered each week.
