Don't Miss 'A Night at the Races' - May 19th

Bring your friends and your favorite party food and we'll provide the play money and open bar (beer, wine and soda). The evening features six videotaped horse races, door prizes, raffle and silent auction.

Critter Caravan Comes to the Community House
Article ImageOur Head Start pre-schoolers got a real treat this month with a visit from a chinchilla, a tortoise, a hedgehog, a rabbit, a lizard and a ball python ... Oh My! 
 
The children (and parents) enjoyed the hands-on experience presented by Critter Caravan, a traveling exotic mammal and reptile show.  Head Start offers free monthly family engagement events around children's learning and development.

It may only be March but it is not too soon to register for our Head Start Preschool for the Fall term beginning last week of August. Parents of children who will be 3- or 4-years-old on or before January 1, 2018 are encouraged to call (203) 934-5221, ext. 135 to schedule an appointment. Slots are limited.
Community Connections Offers Day Program for Young Adults
To meet the ongoing and ever changing needs of youth with intellectual disabilities, Community Connections is now offering a program that provides positive social interaction and enrichment for young adults ages 18 to 21 years who are diagnosed as Intellectually Disabled.
 
The Avenues Program, which is offered full year, Monday through Friday, 9am - 3pm, provides opportunities that promote independence and community inclusion. Click here for more information.
Before-and-after school Program Celebrates Dr. Seuss's Birthday 
Students from our Children & Youth Serivces program celebrated
Dr. Seuss's birthday by enjoying some Dr. Seuss-themed treats. 
 
The program, which aids working families by providing before-and-after school care for their school-age children, is held at the following neighborhood schools: Carrigan, Mackrille, Molloy, Pagels, Savin Rock, Seth Haley, and Washington. Any West Haven elementary school child is eligible to enroll.

Open Mic Night for Youth
 
Calling all youth musicians and singers, come to the Community House for our monthly Youth Open Mic Nights presented by The Rock House School of Music this Friday, March 31st, 6pm - 9pm.  This is a great opportunity for youth musicians to showcase their talent.
