We know that to remain a sustainable organization, we must continually evaluate what we do, who we serve, our successes and those times when we fall short.
In the ever challenging financial climate, we have been working diligently to find ways to enhance our programs while keeping costs low and communication high. For this reason, we have cut our mailling distribution of our Annual Report to a minimum and invite you to view it online here. 
A Night At The Races
Save The Date - Friday, May 18th
Our Annual Night at the Races event will be held Friday, May 18th at the University of New Haven. Join us for an entertaining evening of video horse racing, raffles, prizes and a lot of fun. Click here to purchase tickets and for further information.
UNH Students Work With Teachers

Conduct Science/Engineering Activity
A team of UNH students spent their spring break giving back to the community. They volunteered at the Community House assisting teachers in our after-school program with fun activities that develop a basic understanding of science concepts and engineering design while helping to improve social skills and general problem-solving strategies. Preschoolers Get Special Visitors
WHCH Celebrates 'Read Across America'
Article ImageA couple of special visitors came to read to preschoolers. First came 'Cat in the Hat', then West Haven Mayor Nancy Rossi stopped by to read to the children as they sat quietly and giggled occasionally at the tongue twisting, rhyming rendition of ‘Hop on Pop’ and ‘I Can Read with My Eyes Shut’. Read more here.
What's For Dinner?
Community Connections participants enjoy cooking
Young adults in The Avenue's program recently cooked up some delicious chicken soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. Working alongside our Life direct service professionals, participants enjoy using kitchen appliances and preparing simple meals as part of a variety of individual and group activities that focus on skill-building, increasing self-reliance and independence in a supportive environment.
