A Night At The Races Is Around The Bend

Head Start Holds Health Fair
Article ImageOur Head Start program recently held a Health Fair where more than 50 people attended. Vendors included West Haven Fire and Health Departments, Beyond Fitness Zumba, Elm Family Dental, Department of Public Health Lead House and more.
We hold monthly activities to engage families around children's learning and development, and here at Head Start, all children receive health and development screenings, nutritious meals, oral health and mental health support. Find out more about our Head Start program here.
Students Learn to Play the Ukulele
Article ImageStudents from our after school program at Carrigan participate in weekly ukulele lessons as part of a collaboration with Rock House School of Music Studies show that music training strongly benefits language skills such as verbal memory, literacy and verbal intelligence.
UNH Students Make the "Best Buddies"
The Community Connections program is collaborating with the University of New Haven as part of a global volunteer movement called Best Buddies, a program that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). 
Students visit members of our Day Program once a month and do activities, work together on fundraising events, watch movies together and just hang out.

We know that to remain a sustainable organization, we must continually evaluate what we do, who we serve, our successes and those times when we fall short.
In the ever challenging financial climate, we have been working diligently to find ways to enhance our programs while keeping costs low and communication high. For this reason, we have cut our mailling distribution of our Annual Report to a minimum and invite you to view it online here.
