A Night at The Races A Big Hit!
Many thanks to all who supported our 14th Annual Night at the Races fundrasing event on May 18th. The Fund Development committee is pleased to announce that we raised more than $20,000, surpassing last year's total by more than $5,000. We appreciate the generosity of the participants, sponsors, in-kind donors, volunteers, and especially board members.
More than 250 people attended, and we saw more "newbies" this year, thanks in large part to the efforts of our board of directors. If this was your first time at one of our events, we hope you enjoyed it and will come back again.

Preschool Graduation Time
The month of June at the Community House's Head Start program marks the end of another school year for preschoolers, and a time for graduation and 'moving up' ceremonies. 90 out of 144 pre-schoolers received 'diplomas' and will move on to Kindergarten in the fall.
Teachers and staff hold year-end celebrations for the students and their families. One classroom held a Hollywood-themed party where children donned sunglasses and walked the 'red carpet' while the 'paparazzi' snapped photos, followed by ice cream for everyone.
Garden Club Gets Ready For Summer
Clients and staff from Community Connections' DSO, Avenues and IDN programs enjoy working in their garden and come up with new ideas each spring. They designed and purchased the materials they needed to plant spices, vegetables, fruits and flowers in the raised garden beds.

State and federal budget cuts have created a devastating impact on our ability to provide the level of service that so many working parents rely on each day. As the only independent, multi-service nonprofit agency in the city of West Haven, we are seeking additional financial support to continue to make a positive impact in our community.
We invite all local organizations and businesses to become a Corporate Sponsor by making an annual donation that supports our special events while eliminating multiple requests.  Click here to learn how to highlight your business and brand while reinforcing your reputation as a community leader.

Culture Night
Article ImageRecently children from our before and after school program at Washington School held an end-of-year 'Culture Night' to celebrate the variety of cultures the students and teachers represent.
Leading up to the event, they spent many months learning about cultural diversity from around the globe. They enjoyed hands-on learning by some of the teachers and by family members who lead discussions  about their individual country of origin including Mexico, Paraguay, Morocco, France and Ecuador to name a few.
