A heartfelt thank you to our board of directors, staff and everyone who donated toys, games, clothing and more during the holidays for the families we serve.
very special thanks for conducting holiday drives to the following: Oyster River Energy, Shoreline Dental, Arti Dixson from JA Music LLC, Eder Bros, Our Lady of Victory’s community outreach center, Italian American Club Women's Guild, West Haven Housing Authority, St. Lawrence, Z's Corner Café and Donato Cappetta of Cappetta’s.

Parents and students from our
Children & Youth Services (CYS) program recently participated in hands-on learning activities that provided a fun way to learn, practice, utilize and strengthen essential STEAM skills. 
CYS family events are made possible by a grant from the CT State Department of Education. The goal of the events is to offer academic support to students and families in a fun and engaging manner.

Read Across America Day
Preschoolers Rev Up For ReadingArticle Image
Volunteer readers from the community delighted preschoolers at this year's Read Across America Day in celebration of Dr. Seuss's birthday. Agency board members, business leaders, and local officials were among those who took time out of their busy schedule to read to our Head Start preschoolers.
They included Mayor Nancy Rossi; WHCH’s board president Bill Heffernan; board members John Lewis, Grace Hendricks, Carole Porto, Gayle Tagliatela, and Liz Johnston as well as Christina Capetta from Cappetta’s Italian Imports and Pizza; and Tony Terzi from Fox 61.

WHCH Receives NAA Grants 
CT’s Neighborhood Assistance Act (NAA) Tax Credit Program
We are grateful for receiving Neighborhood Assistance Act (NAA) grants from ConnectiCare and from AVANGRID (on behalf of their three Connecticut subsidiaries; United Illuminating, Southern Connecticut Gas and Connecticut Natural Gas)
The grants were made through Connecticut's NAA Tax Credit Program, which provides a corporate tax credit to businesses that provide financial support to qualified local nonprofit organizations. The funds will be put to good use on much-needed energy efficiency projects at the Community House.
