As the cornerstone nonprofit social service agency in West Haven, The Community House provides comprehensive, integrated programs and services designed to foster well-being in the home, school and community.
This is accomplished through three key areas developed in response to the growing and changing needs of our diverse community; Head Start preschool, Children & Youth Services and Community Connections.
In our Annual Report you will see just how vital the Community House is today and how important it is to ensure that the agency and these services remain vibrant and constant. We cannot do this without help. Please make a donation today and help make a difference in our community. Your contribution, in celebration of our anniversary, will be a significant acknowledgement of the value and positive impact that this agency has had over 75 years. Thank you for your continued help.
Join Us In Celebrating Our 75th Anniversary
The Community House has been serving the West Haven community for 75 years! In preparation for this milestone
anniversary in 2016, we are seeking testimonials from anyone who has ever participated in a program or activity sponsored or run by the Community House since its founding in 1941.
Did you attend Camp To Come To or Head Start? Or perhaps you worked here at one time. Whatever it is, we'd love to hear about your memories.
Please click here and take a moment to fill out a short survey. We look forward to hearing from you and to seeing you in 2016!
Community Connections Gets Creative

Participants in our Day program are encouraged to learn new skills and improve upon existing ones. Allison's specialty is knitting and quilting. She has made several items and is interesting in selling them in the future.
Additionally, painting continues to be a fun and exciting part of our program activities. All participants truly love learning the various painting techniques and each continues to amaze with their abilities. These exercises in various artistic endeavors are part of a larger movement to utilize the creative processes of individuals therapeutically. The purpose of art therapy is essentially one of healing and is successfully applied worldwide to persons with physical, developmental or emotional issues.

Children from our school age programs and their family members participated in the challenging games and activities based on the popular television show 'Minute to Win It'. More than150 people attended the annual event, which brings families together to enjoy a meal and to get to know each other.
This annual event is a collaborative tradition with Southern CT State University (SCSU) Leisure and Recreation Studies students as part of a hands-on community class project.
