Working Side-By-Side Intergenerationally
Preschoolers enjoyed their visit from SMILE clients
A few clients from our SMILE program (a program for adults with developmental disabilities) along with students from one of our Head Start classrooms planted flowers and spices together.
The children learned about how plants grow, when and how much to water them as well as about the different aspects of the plants like how some are spikey and some are smooth, how some smelled sweet and others had a strong odor.
With the help of SMILE program clients, the children made potted flowers and put together bags of seeds/food that they were able to take home. Both groups enjoyed the activity, and we are hoping to do it more often.
