An important part of the work that we do is building and reinforcing a sense of community in the neighborhoods served by MHP. Each year, the Glenville Road Fall Festival provides a fun celebration featuring food, music, dancing, games, and arts and crafts (and of course, a spontaneous soccer game usually pops up too).
This year, we were pleased that a representative of Manna Food Center could join us to tell our families about Manna programs to help low-income families address food insecurity needs. It was an important reminder of the many strong partnerships MHP has in our community. Take a look at a video about the event by clicking on the image.
With your support, MHP is working to build a sense of belonging across the region. We are housing people, empowering families and strengthening neighborhoods. Thank you for your support of this important work!

Robert A. Goldman
MHP President

Citi Community Development Helps
Boost Affordable Housing Access
With support from Citi Community Development, MHP will renovate Hillbrooke Towers, a transit-oriented housing development for 55 families in Silver Spring. Citi's valuable contribution, along with County and State funds and Federal low-income housing tax credits, will help keep the property affordable for the next 40 years. Citi's support also helps MHP move quickly to address the property's immediate deferred maintenance needs.
Over time, MHP will continue to make repairs and upgrades to address accessibility and modernization needs. MHP is grateful for our long-term collaboration with Citi Community Development to help preserve housing affordability for Montgomery County residents.
Another Successful Long Branch 5K
On a crisp November morning, MHP and the Long Branch Business League (LBBL) welcomed more than 70 runners, including Takoma Park Mayor Kate Stewart (far left) and Montgomery County Councilmember Tom Hucker to the 3rd annual Discover Long Branch 5K. Proceeds from the event will support arts and recreational programming for Long Branch youth and families. The 5K is part of a larger collaboration between MHP and the LBBL to build a stronger sense of community in the Long Branch area.
MHP Relaunches
Apartment Assistance Program
MHP is resuming the Apartment Assistance Program (AAP), a free service funded by the Montgomery County Department of Housing and Community Affairs (DHCA) that helps owners of small apartment buildings (2-50 units) increase the quality, safety, and sustainability of their properties.
One of key AAP program activities is an annual expo to connect small apartment owners and managers with free programs and services offered by the county in one place.
The expo, which was held in October, encourages owners to build relationships with each other and with other small business owners and contractors. “Finding a contractor you can count on and trust can be tough," says Eddy Campos, MHP's AAP Specialist. "The expo's purpose is to facilitate new relationships that will benefit these small owners and ultimately their properties. This improves the quality of life for the owner and their tenants.”
Vendors attending this year's expo included Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection, WSSC, Fort Handy Man LLC, Yin Yan Clean and Property Management, GHM Janitorial Services LLC, and Montgomery County Green Bank.
Additional services available through AAP include seminars, technical assistance, a rehabilitation loan program, and access to a resource manual. For more information, contact Eddy Campos, 301-812-4147, ecampos@mhpartners.org.
