Keep On Fighting the Good Fight!
Article ImageAs the 2017 Legislative Session prepares to adjourn at the end of the week, we thank our Representatives and Senators for including an appropriation in the budget to increase reimbursement rates for services for people with disabilities. As they work to finalize the budget before sending it to Governor Holcomb, we are asking them to make this appropriation a priority. During our April 18 visit to the Statehouse, Speaker Brian Bosma paused between meetings to take a photo with us. We also had photos taken with Rep. Macer, Rep. Beumer, Rep. Frye and Rep. Lyness.

"I'm Michelle & I Won't Back Down"
Article ImageMichelle is an entrepreneur, an artist, a singer and a self-advocate. But people don’t see her that way.
She says they see her wheelchair and assume she needs their help. Well, she's tired of it so during Noble Music Therapy, she rewrote the lyrics to “Love My Life” by Robbie Williams:

People think I can’t make any decisions for myself.
“Oh look at her, she can’t make choices, we will do it for her.” I know what I’m doing. I know what I want.
I can do anything I put my mind to.

I’m Michelle, I won’t back down, I can’t back down.
You won’t walk all over me. I’m powerful. I am free.
I am independent. I’m outspoken. Don’t mess with me.

I can speak up for myself, I talk to people every day.
I tell people what I want, and what I need.
I know what I’m doing. I know what I want.
I can do anything I put my mind to.

I’m Michelle. I won’t back down, I can’t back down.
You won’t walk all over me. I’m powerful. I am free.
I am independent. I’m outspoken. Don’t mess with me.

Care to Share Your Green Thumb?
Article ImageJoin the Lawn and Landscape Club of Dow AgroSciences along with a few volunteers at Noble East on Saturday, April 22 to "refresh" our Sensory Garden.

This fantastic club created our Sensory Garden in October of 2012 after months of planning. In a two-day blitz worthy of an HGTV property makeover show, over 60 volunteers braved sleet and cold to move tons of mulch, stone, plants and other materials to create this gorgeous space. Then every six months in every year since, the club has returned to help us keep the garden looking healthy. If you're interested in joining us Saturday morning (8-11 am), email us and bring your gardening gloves.
