It Takes A Village
Community Support & Volunteer Efforts
Keller Williams of Kingwood chose The Village Learning & Achievement Center as their Red Day service project. On May 23rd, they arrived with SO MANY donations for our art program and were ready to work! They set up a computer lab in the new Vocational Training Center, which was such a huge help! They fixed up the gardens on the north side of the building and planted flowers as well as multiple herbs that can be harvested for ALL to enjoy! They power washed the backyard space and completed the painting in the backyard on the rails, so they all have a fresh coat of paint! Then, they painted the railing at the back of Stoney Glen, and it looks WONDERFUL!

Stoney's Stories
By Jennifer Powell, Assistant Residential Manager
May flew by at Stoney Glen! It was full of all kinds of activities and learning experiences! We started the month with Kyle’s birthday! Everyone had a wonderful evening celebrating Kyle!
In May, we hosted a family night! We had a great turn out and fantastic food! The following weekend, we attended the Dino Dance at the Community Center. Everyone had a blast dancing the night away!
For Memorial Day, we enjoyed a feast fit for a king!  Thank you to all our staff that chipped in to make it a wonderful day for our residents!
When it wasn’t raining cats and dogs, we enjoyed afternoons on the patio and outside leisure activities.
We would like to thank First Presbyterian Church of Kingwood volunteers who so generously donate their time every Tuesday. They have supper with us then have a Bible Study led by Mrs. Dorene Breach. She has a way of making learning fun and the guys seem to thoroughly enjoy it and her. We would also like to thank Tamika Tyson for her donation towards a new basketball goal!
Stoney Glen is full, residents are all happy, and life is good.
