Meet one of our mums: Kiah
Kiah is 32 and has three beautiful kids aged 10, 8 and 18 months. Kiah was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014. After being cancer free for four years, Kiah was diagnosed with metastatic cancer.
Kiah had just returned to work from maternity leave and her daughter was five months old at the time. “All I could think about were my children and them growing up without a mum. I knew once it had spread I had no more chances,” said Kiah.
Kiah underwent treatment which was doable with the support of her amazing family and Mummy’s Wish. Read more about Kiah’s story and the support she received here. Kiah's Story

Dry July delivers a refreshing boost
We were super excited when the ‘Sober Schroders’ team from Schroders chose Mummy’s Wish as their Dry July beneficiary. The team raised almost $9,500 - an outstanding and frankly sobering effort! Thank you to the ‘Sober Schroders’ team.
At Mummy's Wish the team also made the tough decision to lock up those liquor cabinets. Board members (Rachel and Giovanna), team members (Liz, Helen, Stacy, Renae, Gayle and Alisha) together with friends (Amy, Jen, Sarah and Michael) went dry in July for the Mummy’s Wish Dry July team.
The dry spell was worth it too. They raised more than $5,000 through donations, fundraisers and the generosity of friends and family.
Our many thanks and gratitude go to all who went dry this July. With special thanks to Dry July who do a fantastic job of supporting people with cancer.
Meet some of our community heroes
THANK ♥ YOU to the following organisations and individuals who recently organised fantastic fundraising events to support the work at Mummy’s Wish - and many thanks also go to all who supported these events and activities. It’s these regular and generous contributions of time, effort and donations within local communities that help Mummy’s Wish continue to support local mums with cancer across Australia.
The Blackbutt Hotel - New Lambton, NSW

Hosted by Fiona O’Connor, from the Blackbutt Hotel, the 9th annual Women’s Dinner was held in memory of a much-loved local mum, Carole - and to support the work of Mummy’s Wish.
Thank you so much to the Newcastle community for supporting this event so generously, which raised a terrific $10,465. We’d also like to make a special mention and thank those close to Carole, who were on hand to share the Mummy’s Wish story. We hope all who attended had a lovely night.
Orion Hotel Springfield, Springfield, Qld

Presenting its third successful  ‘Bubbles for Boobs’ lunch on 17 August, the team at Spotted Gum Restaurant (Orion Hotel Springfield) raised a tremendous $12,253 - the amount to be shared between Mummy’s Wish and BreastScreen Ipswich Service. The lovely guests enjoyed an afternoon of great food, drinks and entertainment. Our many thanks and gratitude to all who attended, and to the sponsors for their very generous contribution to a fabulous afternoon.
Brisbane Lions 50:50 Charity Raffle

During the AFL season Mummy’s Wish was excited to be invited by the Brisbane Lions to be their 50-50 Charity Raffles partner for the Lions nail-biting game against Geelong, at the Gabba in August.
Popular at sporting events, 50-50 Charity Raffles enables invited charities to conduct a raffle, where 50% of the total raised goes to the winning raffle ticket holder, and the other 50% to the nominated charity.
Thanks to the generosity of AFL fans at the Gabba on the day, Mummy’s Wish raised more than $12,000. A cheque for $6,095 went home with the lucky winner - not bad for a day at the footy!
Community fundraisers come in all shapes and sizes…
The Mummy’s Wish fundraising supporters continue to wow us with their commitment to raise vital funds and awareness for Mummy’s Wish at these fun events that bring people in their community together.
Our thanks and gratitude go to: Jessica N (Vic), who held a 'Footy Colours' day at her daycare centre; Meg J (Qld), who asked friends and family to make a donation for her 21st Birthday; Jennifer D (SA), who organised a movie night to encourage friends to catch up, Joy O (Qld) & Renee O (Qld), both ran a marathon; Robyn C (NSW) who got the heart pumping with some Zumba; Kids from Mother Teresa Catholic Primary School (Vic) who raised funds with their crazy hat day; and CUA North Lakes (Qld) who held a community Disco for the kids (big & small).

Schroders bring lots of bears to life
Not only did the team from Schroders go sober for Mummy’s Wish in July, they also helped us ‘Bring a
Bear to Life’ - actually they brought hundreds of bears to life!
Our voice-recordable Comfort Bears are sent to the children of mums with cancer, so mum can leave a special message with her little ones when she isn’t with them. All the kids need to do is hug that bear tight to hear mum’s voice.
Filling these bears and bringing them to life is a such a special volunteering experience. Matthew, from Schroders said bringing bears to life for Mummy’s Wish was a really moving experience for our team.
“Knowing these bears would go to little ones to provide them with some comfort while their mum was going through cancer treatment brought a whole new level of compassion to us all.
“The team loved including a message to families with the bears, and we shared chats that would never have happened without these cuddly bears to bring us together,” Matthew said.
Our ‘Bring a Bear to Life’ sessions are great for corporate teams, community groups or groups of friends to come together to volunteer. Sessions are suitable for groups of five to 20 people. If you would like more information about how to bring a bear to life, visit our website.
