Boys Home of Virginia Welcomes Pastor Anne Grizzle

Pastor Anne Grizzle

Pastor Anne Grizzle has joined the staff of Boys Home of Virginia as chaplain.
Anne grew up in Staunton, VA, and attended Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Growing up, she heard about Boys Home from her parents who were supporters.
Anne is a Harvard graduate where she studied Psychology. She earned a Masters in social work at Columbia University and has studied, practiced, and taught family therapy. She is also a spiritual director and retreat leader. Most recently, she attended Sewanee for theological studies and was ordained as an Episcopal priest on Epiphany, 2018. Answering a question about why she chose ministry, she stated, "This was a call from God after a time of prayer." When asked what she looks forward to most about working with Boys Home students, she smiled warmly and said, "I look forward to getting to know them better and helping them grow in their faith, both individually and as a community."

Congratulations to our P. Buckley Moss Print Winner!

Boys Home is proud to announce the winner of our Moss print, Melinda Walker. Melinda and her husband Andrew, are Blacksburg residents so winning the Duck Pond at Virginia Tech print was very fitting! The couple made the trip to Boys Home to pick up their picture and take a tour. Mr. and Mrs. Walker are members of Christ Episcopal Church in Blacksburg and agreed to be liaisons in their church. We are so delighted to have met these wonderful people!

2018 Quilt and Harley Davidson Motorcycle Raffle Underway

Executive Director Donnie Wheatley's sister, Phyllis Gibson, made and donated the quilt for this year's raffle. This beautiful quilt is pieced using primarily blue/peacock fabrics and measures 78" x 95" and fits a full-sized bed. The pattern is an original design. Tickets are 1 for $5 and 10 tickets for $45. We will draw a winner on May 11, 2018. All proceeds go to the equine program at Boys Home. Please call Sandra at (540) 965-7715 to purchase tickets.

The 2003 gunmetal gray Harley Davidson 100th Anniversary Edition Sportster 1200, with under 500 miles, arrived at Boys Home through a generous donation of a Veteran couple who aquired it through an inheritance. Boys Home is so grateful for wonderful donors like this selfless couple. The motorcycle was taken to a local Harley Davidson dealership to ensure that is road ready. Every ticket you invest in will help Boys Home continue to mold our young men into successful men. Tickets are 1 for $10, 6 for $50, 12 for $100. Drawing will take place on June 7, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Winner need not be present to win. Please call Lauren at (540) 965-7714 to purchase tickets.

These efforts help us financially and create a little fun along the way. Remember, the quilt is being raffled off in May and the motorcycle will be raffled off in June, so buy some tickets with Mother and Father's Day in mind!

Best of luck!

How Can I Help?

If your congregation would like a visit from Boys Home, please contact Lauren at Lward@boyshomeofva.org and we will work to set it up. We look forward to visiting as many parishes as possible to share the Boys Home story.
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9
