Off the Sideline scholarships now available statewide in Oregon
Friends of the Children is a non-profit mentoring organization that helps provide youth in the community with a great need, a supportive mentor throughout their childhood. Miles Allen, Friends of the Children Portland, says, “Youth in the program are living in poverty or are in foster care, and do not have access to funding to play sports. Opportunities like this will allow youth in the program to pursue their passion and participate in sports with their peers. We know this will help to support the outcomes and goals that they all hope for.”
Riverside Community Outreach and Every Child Coos County are affiliates of Every Child Oregon, an organization partnering with Oregon’s Department of Human Services to aide vulnerable children in foster care and to support foster families. "Every Child Coos County is grateful for the opportunity to partner with Off the Sideline and looks forward to seeing the impact sports scholarships will have on our foster families,” says Melissa Hart from Coos County. “The stipend foster parents receive doesn't cover the additional expense of sports participation and the state often isn't able to reimburse for these costs. Support from Off the Sideline will no doubt make a huge difference in the lives of kids and foster families in our community." |
