Connection and positivity is needed more than ever right now. To help bring some positivity to you, our incredible supporters, as well as to ourselves, to each other, to all of the students and families we serve, we are launching a community project/installation called: ARTREACHRAINBOWS
What can everyone do, at home, yet share and experience collectively? We hope these will be therapeutic to create and will benefit not only ourselves, but our community as they practice social distancing and neighborhood walks.
The following image is a template that has a rainbow. This rainbow was taken from an ArtReach student-made shape from the mural at Carson Elementary. The instructions are on the template, and are also listed below.
If you have a printer, print out the rainbow image below. If not, you can either open it up on your computer to trace it or you can free hand.
Follow the instructions listed here:
Fill in with color. Use your favorite art medium.
Cut out your rainbow.
Write a word you wish to share with your community on the front of your rainbow.
Write a sentence/mantra for yourself or your family on the back.
Post your rainbow on a window facing your neighborhood so people inside and outside can see what you are giving them. Everyday take one moment to read your sentence aloud to yourself and your family. Everyday take one moment to radiate your word to your community.
ArtReach believes that all children, regardless of zip code or socioeconomic status, benefit from the opportunity to practice creative thinking and creative doing. We exist to increase access to visual arts education by connecting students at K-8 schools throughout San Diego County with practicing artists. We focus on providing free workshops at schools that meet need criteria and have no or scant visual arts education resources.
