Clubs Response to COVID-19
|
Our commitment to keeping the youth we serve safe is always our number one priority. At this time, we are adhering to the safety precautions put in place by the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH). The Club has closed for all programs starting March 16th through April 4th. We continue to monitor all updates from the CDC and RIDOH for accurate information. We appreciate your patience at this time while we take the necessary measures to keep our community and Club families safe. We are advising all staff, families, and youth members to take precautions as recommended by the CDC, and have provided additional resources like handwashing guides, and information about how to talk to young people about the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

In addition to their hard work and dedication to cookie sales, the girls also celebrated Girl Scout week. They participated in team-building activities including, creating vision boards with volunteers from Collette. They ended the week by celebrating the anniversary of Girl Scouts’ on March 12th with cake and ice cream.

Sharks Swim Season Comes to an End |
Our Sharks Swim Team had a great end to the season with 49 swimmers competing in the RIMA Championship meet held at the University of Massachusetts - Dartmouth. Over half of our swimmers swam their personal best and 13 of those swimmers made ‘All-Stars' for placing in the top 5 of their events. Overall, it was an awesome day and our team represented exemplary sportsmanship throughout the meet, cheering everyone on during their event. Congratulations to the Sharks Swim Team for placing 5th out of 10.

Club Provides Members With Resources |
With the recent closure of schools and the Club due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have committed to continue to provide our members with academic, recreational, and social resources. It is important for us to support our mission, especially during these uncertain times. On Wednesday, March 18th we launched our first virtual Club experience on our Facebook page. The virtual program ensures that our members have daily access to our high-quality educational programs, as well as, National Boys & Girls Club of America (BGCA) programs while they are out of school. Our members also have access to additional resources when they create a free Club approved My Future profile at myfuture.net/.
