Thanks for coming!
Until we meet again...
Dear
AFCM 2016 has come to an end and what an amazing nine days we had celebrating Piers' 10th Anniversary! Everyone is telling us how 2016 was the best Festival yet and we think so too!
We would like to thank all our partners, donors, members, artists, volunteers and collaborators! Without you the festival would not be possible and we sincerely thank you for your continuing support. We also want to thank YOU - our wonderful audiences! We had a fantastic number of Gold Pass Holders, Holiday Package customers and attendees this year, so to our loyal fans who return each year to enjoy Piers’ amazing programming and to our first time visitors, a BIG THANK YOU.
We are very keen to capture your feedback about this year’s Festival, as it helps guide our planning for next year, and importantly the results help support our funding applications and generating sponsorship. Our annual survey will be sent out via email early next week and we ask you to please take the time to complete it.
Everyone has been asking for next year's dates so here they are: Friday 28 July - Saturday 5 August 2017. July/August is Townsville's high season so please consider booking your accommodation early as possible if you are attending next year.
Warm regards,
The AFCM Team.
Remembering the good times
"The highlight of the concert (Viennese Classics on Friday 5th August) was the finale: Brahms’ Piano Quartet in G Minor, Op. 25. Pianist Sa Chen brought a weighty gravitas to the piano lines while still sparkling brilliantly in the high register. Schmidt’s cello cut through the hall with a resounding vibrancy as he drove the motoring accompaniment in the second movement and flung pizzicatos into the crowd. Koch’s gold-hued violin tone soared in the soulful melodies of the third movement, while the finale – a wild gypsy dance – saw Chen flitting across the keyboard against a charged, plucked accompaniment before her fiery, final flourish brought the audience to their feet" - Angus McPherson, Limelight Magazine.
"We would like to express our gratitude and congratulations for a marvellous Festival. This was our first attendance, having listened intently in previous years on ABC Classic FM. The organisation for this Festival was enormous and we would like to thank every person from the volunteers, to the stage managers, to the drivers and the caterers. The music and the artists were brilliant and so inclusive, sharing their joy in performance with a very responsive audience. Very special accolades to Piers Lane! We look forward to AFCM 2017" - Pamela Freeman and Angela Grutzner.
