You Can Make a Difference
Do you have computer skills and enjoy working with people?  Then TFA has the perfect place for you to enjoy sharing your knowledge.    Technology For All provides computer training, devices and Internet access to those who do not have the skills and equipment required to participate in today's digital world.  Can you imagine not being able to logon to your computer each day for work or recreation?  TFA's goal is to help every person have the capability to do this.  Your offerings, both financially and as a volunteer, can help TFA meet this goal.

In August 2013, at 24 years of age, Duy Dam, a TFA volunteer, left his family in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, to come to the USA.  His goal was to complete his master's degree in computer and system engineering at the University of Houston, and seek a job in the business world.
As a volunteer, Duy has assisted TFA staff on the new TFA-PowerUP+ project.  TFA developed PowerUP+ to enhance the success of students at Milby High School through the Houston Independent School District's PowerUP initiative.  HISD is providing laptop computers, online tools, and Internet access at school for high school students and teachers across the district.  TFA is training parents, teachers and students to use the new online tools, as well as providing Internet access to the neighborhood surrounding its office in Houston's East End.
This is where volunteers and funding are important.  Because many families do not have computers in their homes, parents and students are unable to quickly gain the skills to use the new tools of HISD's PowerUP.  With your help, both in time and gifts, TFA can offer these families what they need for parents to become engaged in their children's education, and for students and teachers to gain the most benefit from the new tools and teaching methodolgies.
Duy is now working fulltime and recently thanked TFA for the opportunity to work with the PowerUP+ program.  He said, "Many of the people I met taught me a great deal.  I encourage others to help.  TFA has helped numerous people gain access to the world of computers which is so necessary to survive in today's world."
Volunteer or make a gift today!  Together we can make a difference.
