Off the Sideline was selected by Family Care Health to receive a generous grant, which will enable us to double the amount of scholarships we've paid to date!.

“FamilyCare Health is pleased to support Off the Sideline’s important work of empowering youth in underserved communities to get involved with sports programs,” said Jeff Heatherington, President and CEO at FamilyCare Health. “By encouraging healthy physical activity and a love of sport, Off the Sideline is setting kids up for a lifetime of good health and wellbeing".  Thank you Family Care Health, your contribution helps us further our mission of acheiving health equity for kids in our community.

Our first evaluation results are in
This summer, we surveyed parents of our first round of scholarship recipients. We were pleased to receive an 81% response rate.
  • 70% of parents indicated that prior to that season, their child had not played a sport for the previous 3 years
  • The overwhelming barriers to participation were enrollment and uniform costs, followed closely by transportation barriers to games and practices. Lack of awareness was cited as another barrier to participation.

Application form available in Spanish
Thanks to the work of our volunteers, our scholarship application is now available in Spanish! It's all part of our mission to make sports accessible to everyone. Our English-language form is available, too.
